BeIN Sports channels remain unavailable on Du, as Etisalat rolls out its World Cup package
The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is less than two weeks away and football fans the world over are getting ready to support their favorite teams as they compete for glory in the sport’s biggest international tournament.
But it looks like fans in the UAE might be left with few optioms to watch the games, as it appears that beIN Sports – the Qatari-based official broadcast partner for the tournament – has cut-off access to its channels for Du subscribers.
Currently, customers of local cable-provider Du are greeted with a blue screen and an apology for the restricted service, when attempting to tune in to any beIN Sports channels.
The below FAQ on Du’s website gives a little more insight into the restriction, confirming that the block is temporary and caused by an unspecified decision on the part of beIN Sports. They are working to restore the service.
So as it stands, you’ll currently only be able to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup by purchasing the additional package on Etisalat’s eLife service.
With the opening game of the tournament between Russia and Saudi Arabia set to kick off on Thursday, June 14, Du customers will no doubt be hoping that this issue will be resolved in short order so that they will be able to enjoy the summer’s football showcase without fear of missing any of the action.
